National Contest

Why Buy Contest Sponsorships?

Our seasonal contests are a big deal on air. They receive a ton of promotion, thanks to the fact that our Programming budgets help drive them.  They also receive a lot of listener attention due to the large prizes involved.  Together, these factors create a sizzling opportunity for ad clients!

These packages are completely turnkey.  All creative is produced for the market by Corporate Programming, including the :30 intros that are then tagged with :30 local “sponsored by” messages.  Unit levels and maximum # of weeks are fixed and dictated in advance by the program.  We add Programming Promos – usually a mix of live :10s and recorded :20s – with “sponsored by” mentions to add even more on-air weight.

To add frequency, advertisers are also given a fixed quantity of In-Stream :60s that can be used as general awareness builders for the sponsor, but we encourage the message to emphasize entering the contest (as is our other on-air promotion).

The online component consists of 1) prominent home page branding in the promo reel, 2) ROS Cube and Leaderboard Display ads, and a fully-sponsored contest page (header logos and Fixed Cube/Leaderboard ads.

  • Follow the standard practice for all display advertising: use a simple, clean message that ties into the campaign heard on-air/online.  It should ASK the consumer to ACT.  Example:  “Click Here To Reserve Your Turkey!”
  • Whenever possible, tie the sponsor message to the theme of the contest.  Example:  “Come Shop At Kroger For All Your Thanksgiving Needs.”
  • Best Practice:  When you find a client that is interested in these sponsorships, sell them into future packages that are on our calendar.  In some markets, advertisers prefer to lock these great deals up for the whole year!
